kate moss vs katie price-which equestrian collection would you buy? |
The hot goss' in the paddock is that Kate Moss is moving from catwalk to horse walk as she designs the racing silks for her model mate, the equally cool, Rosemary Ferguson.
Rosemary is going to be tearing up the turf when she takes part in the Magnolia Cup charity race on Ladies Day (Aug 2) at Glorious Goodwood . Jockeying for position alongside her will be a field of well know names including, last year's winner Burberry model Edie Campbell, Radio DJ Sara Cox, jewellery designer Philippa Holland, pop singer Jade Williams, Channel 4 racing presenter Emma Spencer, and racing celebrity Francesca Cumani.
Horse mad Edie may be the hot favourite but my money's on the gutsy Philippa Holland who thinks nothing of flying huge hedges, side saddle. Philippa, whose gorgeous jewellery designs are worn by celebs such as Sienna Miller, Lily Allen and Claudia Schiffer, is also organising another race with a difference. The Diana's of the Chase race, which will be ridden aside not astride, is set to be run in Feb 2013. The last time a side saddle steeple chase took place was back in 1927. Now, that's definitely a date for the diary.
But back to the paddock posing. Other big fashion names who will be designing silks for these steel magnolia jocks are Stella McCartney, Vivienne Westwood, Luella Bartley, Pearl Lowe, Bella Freud, Sadie Frost and Amanda Wakeley.
So I want to know, why stop there? Wouldn't it be great if some of these designers gave a kick up the breeches to equestrian clothing. I'd definitely be first in line for the Kate Moss equestrian collection as I loved her designs for Top Shop. In my dream world I would go through the wardrobe and emerge looking like a Mossy style rock chic on a horse. In my nightmare one I'd be kitted out in KP Equestrian, the all blinging, pinked up range from Katie Price!
So would you like to see some new ideas in equestrian clothing? Which designer would you choose to design a range for horsing around in?
