When a friend hands you your birthday pressie a couple of weeks early and her children are desperate to see you open it, well, it would be churlish to refuse wouldn't it? Although the ferocity with which I ripped off the paper probably revealed my faint protest to 'save it for the day' to be totally bogus!

I was delighted with what I found inside, this retro looking Gymkhana Horsey Storage Tin by birdyhome which literally ticked all my boxes and is now in pride of place on my dressing table with my jewellery nestling inside.

Funny how things coincide, because at the moment I'm being transported back to my childhood by reading K.M Peyton's Fly-by-Night, this month's Trot ON Book Club read.  I used to sit glued to KM Peyton's books for hours and re-reading it has reminded me of how it felt to be absolutely addicted to anything equine, desperate to own a pony but not being able to afford one. I had to wait for a very long time for that dream to come true but like all good gifts, it was worth waiting for.
