Edie Campbell horsing around with members of her family for the Lanvin Autumn/Winter 2014 Campaign. |
Lanvin and photographer Tim Walker have definitely come up with a refreshingly quirky Autumn Winter 2014 Campaign. It stars Edie Campbell and her family including much loved mare Dolly. Well of course, horses are family aren't they!
Edie told Vogue Magazine 'She loves being photographed. She's basically a model. She's not very big, she's quite little, which is nice as well. She's the most perfect horse I've ever known.'
Actually Dolly isn't unknown to the fashion world. Back in Dec 2013 when Edie nabbed the title Model of the Year from Cara Delevingne at the British Fashion Awards she dedicated the accolade to her four-legged bestie.
'There are so many people to thank but I will make one special thank you to someone who has been by my side for the past four years, my pony Dolly.'
Edie is the model of the moment and the face of some of next season's biggest fashion campaigns. She even gets to pose with a horse-though not hers this time-in the Alexander McQueen Autumn/Winter ads as the collection has an opulant, gothic equestrian vibe. Proof that horses are still hot to trot in the fashion stakes-we're in girls!
Whenever she's not modelling Edie grabs any chance she can to hang out with Dolly and her other horse Armani. Her fave discipline is eventing but she has also competed on borrowed horses in the ladies charity horse race at Glorious Goodwood - romping home with a win in 2011. And last year she competed in a special show jumping event at the Gucci Masters in Paris which teams-up a celeb with a professional showjumper. Her teammate was Jessica Springsteen- daughter of Bruce-who has represented the United States in the FEI Nations Cup and Show Jumping World Cup. Taking inspiration from the dark, stylish film The Black Swan, Jessica dressed as the white swan and edie as the black swan even wearing winged black eyeliner and a black tutu-she looked fantastically FAB!
In Interview Mag Eddie told Brit designer JW Anderson that if she wasn't a model she'd love to work with horses. She also told him how horses keep her grounded...
'It's very good for you, riding. You know how every model is like, "I do yoga." Well, I find horses have the same effect, in that you have to put your ego aside and concentrate on making the horse do the things you want it to do, and move in the way you want it to move-particularly if you're doing dressage. So you have to use your body to help this horse do incredibly difficult movements that don't come naturally to it. And if something goes wrong, it's not the horse's fault; it's always your fault. So you have to be quite levelheaded. And then the whole nature aspect of it is very calming. It's great. No one in the horse world gives a flying fuck what they look like'
Ha ha, well I think some show jumpers might disagree with your last statement Eddie and I bet you just can't helping looking cool when you're on a horse.
This video by Linda Brownlee shows Edie eventing and chatting about why she loves the sport so much. It's well worth a watch and proves my point-she's a stylish rider and even manages to pull off dishevelled helmet hair complete with dangling hairnet-damn her! And is that a Pony Club badge I can see on her lapel during the dressage phase-can you make out which test she's passed?
So if you want to go out with this girl who's flying around between modelling assignments and the yard you better be into horses too. Which is probably why Otis Ferry, son of rock star Brian Ferry, and joint master of the South Shropshire Hunt has been her boyfriend for quite a while now...oh and he just happens to be very good looking and cool too!
